Located at Anini is a polo field where matches
are held every Sunday (seasonal) within walking distance from your home.
Windsurfing rentals and lessons are located just down the beach.
Kilauea,
just 3 miles away is a former Sugar Plantation town where you will find
the rather famous Kilauea Lighthouse. This is a postcard perfect landmark
perched on a bluff and represents the northern-most point of the main Hawaiian
Islands. When it was built in 1913 it had the largest clamshell lens in
existence and was used until the mid 70's when it was replaced by a beacon.
Directly offshore is Moku`ae`ae Island, a bird sanctuary. Also in Kilauea
is the popular Saturday Farmer's Market where one can purchase fresh fruits,
vegetables and flowers directly from the growers.
There are many restaurants on the North Shore.
Anything you like from sandwiches to fine dining. If you are looking for
an evening out in style, try The Princeville Hotel with its five star ambiance
and incredible view.
Princeville
is proud of their two Robert Trent Jones designed Golf Courses: The Prince
and The Makai. Both courses have consistently been ranked in the top ten
of Golf Courses in Hawaii and in the top 40 nationally.
The Prince Health Club and Spa, just 3 miles away,
is a luxurious full service club featuring a full weight room, aerobic classes,
massage, facials, body wrap treatments, sauna, jacuzzi and large pool. The
windows go from floor to ceiling so you are constantly being treated to
the lush and panoramic view of the mountains, The Prince Course and the
ocean. Incredible!
The Princeville Center is just a few miles from
your Anini Beach home and offers a full service grocery store, banks, clothing
stores and restaurants making it a convenient place to shop on the North
Shore.
Hanalei Valley Lookout is just a bit down the road
from the Princeville Shopping Center. Stop and enjoy the exquisitely peaceful
scene of the verdant Hanalei Valley, noted for its Taro fields. Hanalei
is a quaint little town with lots of casual dining and unique little shops.
Hanalei Bay is frequently used as a setting for
movies, including South Pacific, this crescent shaped bay with its white
sand set against the backdrop of the green mountain range that rise above
Hanalei town, well..you just have to see it! The waters can be quite calm
in the summer, but the surfers prefer it in the winter!
Just some of the movies that have been filmed on
the North Shore are: Blue Hawaii, South Pacific, 10, King Kong, Raiders
of the Lost Ark, Jurrasic Park, Six Days and Seven Nights and Honeymoon
in Las Vegas. (right near YOUR home at Anini Beach Hale!)
Continuing on down the road is Lumahai Beach, another
setting for South Pacific, the area of Haena and at the end of the road,
the start of the Na Pali Trail a world renowned hiking trail that winds
through the steep valleys of the Kauai's Na Pali Coast. If you are a hiker,
you will be in heaven! |
